  • 10% of respondents to the IAVA annual survey considered suicide before joining the military whereas 44 percent had considered suicide after joining the military

  • 14% of female IAVA members report feeling unsafe when seeking healthcare in VA facilities

  • 86% of IAVA respondents report exposure to burn pits; 88% believe they may be or are already experiencing symptoms; 53% are registered in the burn pit registry
